BUSIEST DAY SINCE MARCH 2020?

Post by Bearsden »

Just looked at today's departure board

Jet2 operating 12 flights (Faro, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Lanzarote x 2, Mahon, Malaga, Palma, Paphos, Tenerife x 2) & TUI 3 flights (Antalya, Larnaca, Rhodes) plus easyJet (Alicante, Faro, Kos, Malaga, Palma, Tenerife), Aer Lingus, KLM, Lufthansa, Ryanair and usual domestics

However the list of destinations clearly underscores GLA's dependence on the outbound market

It really does. There's a good few heads need banging together (not just at GLA) to reverse this trend and promote the city and surrounding beautiful areas more to inbound tourism.
You'd like to think that this continuing trend is being examined.

Absolutely, I say a marketing promotion with ScotRail and Visit Scotland showing off the West Highland Line would be a good start

That’s a great starting point. Add in Loch Lomand ,The Trossachs and Rob Roy, Culzean Castle and Turnberry, Arran Bute and Argyll, Oban Gateway to the Western Islands and Glencoe, Fort William and Skye plus the Jacobite Express and Harry Potter.

Just don’t try travelling on a Sunday if you’re planning using ScotRail
