I don't think they will, we are staring to get close to the summer 2022 season and a route like this doesn't get announced last minute.
GLA direct is unlikely in 2022, unless they decide to deploy a Max I think we are stuck until the 757s get replaced. Fares from GLA are loaded, all via FRA, as LH are planning double-daily.

Slightly off-topic, but UA are to introduce the Max 8 to the North Atlantic next year, with a new Newark-Ponta Delgada service. Maybe an angle there for GLA to approach them with to get the service back up and running.

Unless they configure a sub fleet with polaris business class as opposed to the US domestic first I would think thats a non starter. PDL is being done with bog standard MAX8 - its more of a VFR route than anything else. All the other adds have proper international first and/or business class.

I was intrigued to see PMI on the list. Over the past forty years visiting there I can’t ever remember a service from the USA. I wonder if it is cruise ship related.

I'm not sure GLA really needs the Polaris product, as it is predominantly leisure traffic. The domestic first cabin could be marketed as a premium economy product, which may be more attractive on the route. Both American and Continental recognised this when they used their Hawaiian fleets of DC-10s to serve Glasgow, and that is probably what is needed now to regenerate the US traffic from the West of Scotland. Air Transat and Westjet have the right products for Canada, we need something similar for the USA.

Slightly more off topic but what have we got for 2022 confirmed for USA flights from any airline? Anything? Genuine question btw.

Yeah that's always been my initial suspicion.
