Hearing AF1 will be going to Leuchars ... need to wait and see
That would make sense as it is only 20 min buy Marine 1 to the Palace and it is over water most of the way
Not sure what’s so special about that particular flight compared to all the others.

Most likely the last time this generation of AF1 will be in Scotland. Not long till it's replaced. I'd say that's fairly special.

Certainly not going to see many 747-200 series around here much longer.

I meant with regard to what Viscount said about Leuchars making sense for that president for the reasons he/she explained. Like would that not also follow for any other dignitary?

The Americans have some pretty particular requirements when it comes to AF1. One of which is a 30 minute pause to movements before landing or departure. This is why they stopped going to LHR and started using STN as LHR couldn't cope with the delays the airlines were then facing.
In June it was different as they were able to give AF1 a dedicated runway at LHR which didn't impact the other flights due to the pandemic.
It sort of makes sense if you have all these other world leaders flying in to go to the place of least disruption.
