Flew on one of those from Gatwick to Rimini back in the day. Stewardess let us have a crafty fag in the back galley once the trolley had gone out.
Marvellous airline.

I remember these Friday night Rimini flights. That’s one of the things which got me hooked on aviation. My sister worked in The Excelsior Hotel and my Dad would Drive to the airport to collect her from a backshift. Cue stand 1 with CK or CP, sometimes ED. The series 500s came from Court Line and had the pleasure of flying on two on GLA-FAO-GLA way back in 1985.

I can remember loading the dan air comet with baggage at Glasgow, a difficult aircraft as the baggage hold was underneath.
The only bac 1.11 I flew was BEA to London and everyone was smoking in these day's even cigars.
If you still want to see a 1.11 there is one at East Fortune aircraft museum.
