Many on here - those who have been deriding the GLA senior management for years - must be delighted to see the old guard giving way for new thinkers.

Won’t make the task any easier though…
I don't know anything about the ops guy, but he sounds like a decent person and I'm not complaining about that aspect of the airport's running.

COVID has undoubtedly hit the aviation industry hard - and more is still to come - but how you respond to a crisis is telling and we see that with GLA giving up and tweeting"help" whilst EDI plot to take advantage. I remember thinking back just when lockdown came in that EDI would use COVID to try to take GLAs longhaul - obviously it didn't occur to those in charge at AGS.

Things are clearly not going well, so those who've overseen the decline leaving can't be a bad thing imo. Unfortunately the group CEO and GLA MD appear to be BAA through and through, but I see the recently appointed commercial director has more of the kind of experience that can hopefully help in time.

Glasgow had the same COVID as Edinburgh, the same lockdown etc, so there should not be anymore impact at GLA than at EDI - if there is it suggests it's the people and company in charge who are at fault.

Where GLA is now is the culmination of several years of missteps by a variety of people, including many who have left years ago. I suspect unfortunately that the ultimate owners are as much a problem as who may or may not be in charge.

Your last sentence hits the nail on the head. When BAA retained Glasgow and sold Edinburgh the omens were not good. GLA was lumbered with owners who were London-centric, with a legacy carrier outlook and who failed to have the vision to embrace the changing aviation landscape at that time. The era when low cost carriers were coming to the fore. In the east...owners with a totally different vision who had the nous to aggressively target the lo-cos and take advantage of Glasgow's weaknesses.

Indeed.
But years and years have passed since then and nothing has really changed.
Either the Board of AGS continually appoint people who cant see or cant change the situation. Or alternatively, its too late to do anything about it.

If someone with an endless pot of money said to the Irish Goblin, name yoiur price for a 30 aircraft base, do you think he would snap at it?
I dont.

Do you mean he's being shown the door, or staying put ?

Good to hear, Greymare. Best wishes to you both during these trying times. It’s like working on quicksand with all the constant changes to restrictions.
