I'm sure it was roughly 1999/2000, could see it from my flat at the time and think it was a golf charter ? I couldn't be more specific than that unfortunately.

Came across this photo on the internet. No idea of the date and why they were there.

Three BA Concorde's were used to launch Super Shuttle in August 1983. The idea was to poke one in the eye of British Midland with their rival Diamond service on the same route. I imagine being poked in the eye with a Concorde would make them water a bit....

But then I remember BD using their 707s on GLA-LHR as a means of counter competition. PiperOne may recall the exact date, I can only recall vague details of this.

Pretty well. BD Diamond Service was top notch, and really shook up BA, but for me the DC-9s were a big plus, and they were usually cheaper

The BMA 707s were to prove a point. Remember the GLA cant handle 707s brigade when BMA applied for GLA-JFK using said 707s? (Despite them being regular for years up to that point - Tarom, Donaldson etc). So BMA stuck one on the LHR run to make them very visible. Didn't work as BA could use their influence to block just about any other UK airline from any route - whether BA operated it or not - in those days.
