I wonder then why DL didn't want to consolidate at GLA? VS were making a mint flying from GLA with ever increasing frequencies and DL had resumed their summer service. Is there another in the alliance perhaps that decreed EDI or nothing? Just asking, don't actually know.
If we look at it from Delta’s point of view, Edinburgh is Scotland in the same way that Havana is Cuba and Oslo is Norway. I know it’s sad, but it’s true.

To Americans only one place is Scotland, same with London, I just watched a video on tiktok asking Americans to point to a country on a map, not one of them could do it, and they are supposed to be the greatest power

Yes Americans and world geography are an oxymoron.

That said don’t write VS services off. If they don’t work, ie BGI and MCO then DL will reassign Virgin metal elsewhere on other routes rom EDI. That’s exactly what they have done in the past at MAN and LHR.

In my personal opinion VS could have introduced LAS as well as MCO helping to replace TCX capacity which has still never been covered at GLA. Obviously that isn’t going to happen.

For information John has raised a pertinent issues: alliances.

Star :LH, SK, UA, SN, LX (WK), AC, A3,TK,
Skyteam AF, KL, DL, (AZ),
Oneworld: BA,QR, IB (I2), AY, AA,

That’s the trick which GKA has missed. I said it many years ago at one of our meetings.

If the VS services don’t work ex EDI compared to ex GLA, the VS metal won’t be re-assigned on other routes from EDI. VS metal would be too much of a capacity increase on JFK or BOS compared to the DL 767. Instead DL will re-assign them on routes out of LHR.

I get what you're saying John but Americans are a bad example. Most of them couldn't find America on a map of...erm, America.

To save me looking it up atuk, do GLA have any alliances? You may have posted this previously.

I get that mate but my point is,DL were probably quite happily plodding along making a few bob here and there during the summer months and VS were raking it in and preparing to go all year round from their previous seasonal offerings. Why sacrifice the cash cow that was GLA? Why not continue to grow the GLA network with VS and have DL fall into line with that at GLA? None of this makes sense to me.

Perhaps MCO were offering incentives for new routes. Easy money for VS to switch along the road if so. Similar to the AA PHL change

Which is exactly my point in regards to GLA vs EDI. I don't think there's any doubt that MCO was a money-spinner from GLA however any opportunity to make a quick buck in this day and age has to be tempting.

Airport charges can’t be worth more than the packet they were apparently making at GLA.

No, I think it’s more to do with ignorance of the Scottish market at Delta.

Time for a new "Glasgow's Miles Better" campaign methinks. Maybe spell it 'Glass-cow' this time too.
