Ryanair have dropped FCO.
That was their only Rome service wasn't it?

An opportunity for GLA to get LS to increase?

Of course EDI will replace it very quickly I wager cause they're on the ball - unlike at GLA, where routes are lost and they serially fail to find any replacement.

EDI-FCO was only for the 6 nations, EZY?? and FR still fly EDI-CIA

Afaik CIA is still operational. Schedules have all changed for the summer season compared to previous years; it’s a dogs breakfast of what flies where and when. Yesterday DY cancelled the CPH at short notice and after my KLM day ( first time for many, many months and good to be back on old turf) I was on FR to KRK followed by BTS.

It’s not just security that’s short staffed, we all are and gate space is at a premium! Quarts into pint pots.

EDI are putting out stories about how they are going to be SOOOOO BUSY - whilst GLA are spreading tales of hyperbolic negativity.

It may look like a negative story but it's actually a positive one that shows the airport is very very busy - very clever imo. EDI are light years ahead when it comes to media management!

Airlines will be reading these stories - I wonder which airport they will pick to fly to?
Agreed - gets the message across that we have lots of flights this summer (following up on Virgin Atlantic's media launch on first flight to Orlando)

They’ll be picking the same one that they’ve been picking for years.

Phew! Thank God for that because after serving GLA for years, I really didn't want VS to migrate to EDI.

Hmmm point spotted: Well as we know, they’ve made their bed up now as well and hopefully they don’t become comfortable in it? … Time will tell via footfall, loads margins etc, as they didn’t do badly at all at GlA. It’ll not be some awww inspiring offer from a stagnant management team at GlA that shows them the error of their move.

southflyer wrote: Fri Apr 01, 2022 2:16 pm It's an impressive list but I suspect it will be a different picture in 2023.

Delta currently have no choice but to operate widebodies on transatlantic routes until they have an operational transatlantic narrowbody fleet. Currently JFK and BOS are year round on a 767 - that's a lot of capacity for two thin winter routes.

Air Canada recently switched to the 787 which represents a significant increase in both overall capacity and premium capacity for a route that was primarily leisure-oriented. Up until last month, EDI was due to be the only transatlantic route served by the MAX besides KEF. It would be interesting to know if this was largely an operational decision or influenced entirely by demand.

I think United and either American or Delta will return to GLA. I'd like to see Air Canada return, GLA previously had a large number of connecting pax onto YYC/YVR in addition to O&D to YYZ. There was also a decent amount of cargo on the route, often connecting onto other long haul routes out of YYZ.
News t me that BOS is year round however Virgin Holidays/ VS close share book lots of folks on DL flights.

AC 787 was a surprise but it’s summer only and here’s hoping that 2023 see a US return from GLA. That said that boat may just have sailed especially if S22 goes to plan on EDI ops.

Don’t care about Turnhoose but I fully expect JetBlue and United at GLA next year.

We’ll probably see WestJet consolidating Scottish ops at GLA too IMHO.
