At EDI

Post by Paris »

Shame to be sitting here at Cafe Nero in a very busy, very cosmopolitan EDI Airside Departure area looking at all of GLA’s ex-USA traffic loading up & shipping out. Departure board showing a fine & healthy array of destinations, some GLA duplicated, some GLA lost & some GLA no toe in water with now or probs never….. Me I’m waiting on an easy to GVA as I need to get to Chambéry area of France. EDI gave various daily options, GVA & LYS being most favourable. To get to GVA from GLA seems you need to wait & take skis with you or forget it..!! LYS … Just forget it…. Next trip GLA - DLM - GLA. Unfortunately I need to be in Denmark close to Copenhagen late June… Looks like another two hour slog by train n tram to get to ‘Scotland’s (new) local airport’ ….. to get to a simple detonation of CPN from Where Scotland meets the world’ as it says on the building .. Get that banksy guy up here to spray. “Cause GLA disny”

Isn’t this the ‘Trip Report’ section enquirer? … I’m surely reporting on my trip so far … or have I omitted something you wished to add?

Well I had a room with a view today of departing traffic whilst doing my AC training. A surprise visitor was the Air Dolimiti presumably operating LH to MUC plus Sun Express. I’m not usually in on Saturdays so it was nice to see it here rather than in Germany.

Mind you next week’s roster is Thu and Sat so a wee change if days and airlines.

I saw the Air Dolimiti (Embraer I think) and we took off after the Sun Express landed … My flight was a full A319, but not sure if there were missing seat rows at the back? Flight time 1hr 55mins.

been in on a Thomsons 757 a number of times. Plenty of go arounds. The flight in itself is a bit hit and miss. But, the airport (inside) is a riot. Its basically like an Oban airport with Big aircraft arriving. The queues to get baggage is a thing of great wonder. If at all possible, we avoid at all costs.Got diverted to Zurich once. Then a coach to Alps . 5 hours. Oh what a laugh we had. Not.

Thanks very much… Have based myself in Vallorcine close to Swiss border, exceptional views, good walking & beers not bad.

Have you been/tried Lake Annecy? Not far from you. If not. Get over there for a day out. Stunning town. River side cafes. Mountains. And very very Frenchy

Agreed, I worked there over 2013-2015 (52 round trips to GVA, 183 individual sectors)

Take a trip up the mountain to the paraglider launch
