Haven’t been, going in other direction today… Lake Emosson in Swiss to see some dams, lunch mountains n stuff… raining here today. Tomorrow to Marigney to catch train to GVA to catch Easy to (sadly) EDI - Where Scotland meets the World …. Don’t u know
At EDI

Re: At EDI
… and there wasn’t any more of a direct GLA service then than there is now. It’s amazing how folks managed before Turnhoose cornered the market.

Re: At EDI
of course you are quite correct Clive. Glasgow has only ever been a seasonal route to GVA. No arguments there.
However, as part of the frustration felt by many, if people want to fly to GVA in 22, rather than a connecting flight elsewhere, you just get to Edinburgh and its a direct journey.
Its not passengers fault if there are no options from GLA. We just choose the easiet way to get to where we want to go.
I do wonder how many living through here now use EDI as departurte point.
I wager its grown significantly due to lack of options available.

Re: At EDI
I used a real mixture of options from GLAClive wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 10:56 am… and there wasn’t any more of a direct GLA service then than there is now. It’s amazing how folks managed before Turnhoose cornered the market.
BAW via LCY, LHR & LGW
EZY direct
KLM via AMS
DLH via DUS
BUT I'm sorry to say I also used EDI
EZY direct
DLH via FRA
Best flight however was Global 5000 N15PX GLA-GVA return in Jan 2012
Re: At EDI
We are fortunate to have such a facility, that makes it so easy to travel direct without the ‘HUB’ Hassle. Not the easiest to get to (depending on method) but better (IMO) than the indirect option… It has also greatly improved its internal infrastructure and from tram arrival to gate… Simple & pretty efficient… I’ll see what inbound is like tomorrow?Clive wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 10:56 am… and there wasn’t any more of a direct GLA service then than there is now. Re: At EDI
Your last sentence illustrates my point. It’s no harder to fly from GLA now than it was then. But with all these intrepid flyers lapping up EDI there is no requirement or incentive for airlines to invest in GLA. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Never mind though, it seems most of the frequent travelers in this group are happy to use EDI. Sometimes we see problems where they don’t exist….hads wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 11:04 am of course you are quite correct Clive. Glasgow has only ever been a seasonal route to GVA. No arguments there.

Re: At EDI
So , if I want to get to somewhere like Geneva thats not served from my local airport, what do I do?
Not go?
Or, inefficient Polar Bear Killing Multiple flights?
The problem isnt the traveller. Its the lack of options in the west. Thats not my fault. Ive always travelled 3 or 4 times a year and have done so for leisure purposes most of adult life. I used to fly from GLA. Now I dont as much as the flights dont exist. Ive not stopped going abroad because GLA doesnt offer everything I need.
But you know all this.

Re: At EDI
Most of the flights you are talking about do still exist, except the USA. I do g know how Team GLA are meant to convince airlines that they need to be at GLA to serve this market when the reverse is patently true.hads wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 2:41 pm So , if I want to get to somewhere like Geneva thats not served from my local airport, what do I do?

Re: At EDI
Tail wagging dog....if the airlines offered flights from GLA the flyers would use them. The airlines and airport doesn't so EDI is the only option for direct flights in most cases.Clive wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 2:37 pmYour last sentence illustrates my point.
