Perhaps we should encourage double daily to Barra rather than a Madrid connection.
Barra must be a breeze.

We flew out on the 2nd (You allow Edi trip reports Clive? ;) ) and it was pretty chaotic. The baggage belt failed, so it was moving one bag per time, for four or five bags, then stopped for five / ten minutes, and repeat.

EDI staff came through, and stopped check-in for 50 minutes to clear a backlog and bring a load of Ryanair folk through. BA staff ignored them and kept putting their passengers through.

We left two hours late, partly as cleaners were 40 mins late coming to the plane. Partly as 1hr 30 after we should have left 100 bags got delivered.

Returning Saturday morning, expecting the worst, we were pretty lucky. There were though a number of bags just going round and round on our belt, and a good number dumped off to the side.

A Qatar flight landed as we were taxiing, and was still there when we were back at the Holiday Inn picking up the car!

This past week, a friends parents were heading to Washington and left two hours late due to Menzies taking that long to get bags loaded.

The 2nd July was manic and on Saturday the reason QR held was due to AF on its stand having a late departure due to crewing issues. No alternative stand was available due to UA and VS having already arrived. It’s not ideal, anything but, however it’s clearly squeezing quarts into pint pots which is fine when everything keeps to schedule otherwise……

Meanwhile we all keep going as best we can.

Passengers whose luggage was handled by Swissport can now attend a temporary baggage facility at the Royal Highland Centre to collect delayed bags.

Unclaimed bags have been moved from the airport terminal and taken by Swissport to the secure Lowland Hall facility at Ingliston. This will be open each day from 0900 to 1700 and parking is available at Car Park 6.

Passengers must take along their luggage tags and identification to access the area. Without this Swissport will be unable to return bags. No appointment is required.

Anyone who has luggage to collect and who flew with one of the following airlines can attend:

Air Canada

Air France

Aer Lingus

Atlantic Airlines

Balkan

Brussels Airlines

Delta

Finnair

Jet2

KLM

Norwegian

Qatar

Ryanair

SAS

Transavia

TUI

Turkish Airlines

Virgin Atlantic

Wizz Air

Swissport say there may be a slight delay at peak times as they work to deal with requests, so passengers are thanked in advance for their patience.

Your airline's contracted handling agent is responsible for baggage, not Edinburgh Airport, and passengers with any queries should contact the relevant agent.

Anyone whose bags were handled by Menzies, and flew with one of the following airlines, should get in touch with the handling agent or airline to arrange collection of their bags separately.

Aegean Airlines

Air Baltic

British Airways

Edelweiss

Eurowings

Iberia

Loganair

Lufthansa

Sun Express

United

Vueling

WestJet

WFS is the handling agent for easyJet.

How do you contact the handling agents?

You can contact the relevant handling agent using the contact numbers below.

Looks like not enough staff to cover night shifts, so hopefully some expensive metal heading our way, or a bit of re-planning of flights. Certainly not much advanced notice.

Way off the mark. See EACC minutes below for the reason.
General Aviation

The General Aviation project facilitates the relocation of the Signature General Aviation facility from Eastfield Avenue to a new facility at Turnhouse. Enabling works are complete. Works to install the new Signature facility are due to be complete in July 2022.

Services to the Scottish capital are likely to be restored, he indicated. “Edinburgh was a very strong route for us, particularly inbound in summer,” he said.

I would have expected EK to return to EDI at some point, to at least challenge QR & TK for Middle Eastern and Long-haul routes. I’d also not be surprised if EDI (again) invest a large amount of cash increasing the present terminal size & facilities or possibly the building a new T2 to cope with the year on year increasing traffic, destinations available & footfall that comes with it…. As they say: “If you build it, they will come”.
