I recently flew with Ryanair to Dublin as part of a wider trip to Lisbon.
We were travelling on FR5773 booked to depart at 1425. That morning we received an update from Ryanair stating a 35 minute delay to the flight due to ATC restrictions impacting the aircrafts previous flight.
We arrived at the airport at 1300 and made our way straight to security. There was a queue approximately half the size of the queuing system, however, this cleared in 11 minutes. The departures area was filling with travellers (mainly flying XC, TOM, LS & BA). We made our way to Gate 7C. This part of the airport is rather grim and was very hot. It also becomes crowded when 2 flights are called at the same time.
Boarding began just after 1500, however, it was quickly interrupted as gate staff called the police to deal with a passenger travelling on a stag weekend. The man (who was dressed as a seagull) was accused by the gate agent of calling her a specky c***. Unfortunately other members of the group dragged themselves into the situation when they should just have said nothing.
As I scanned my boarding pass a member of the stag group began invading the personal space of the female member of staff at the gate, the police quickly dealt with him, by offloading him.
Onboard the aircraft the cabin crew were surprisingly cheerful for FR crew, who in my experience tend to say nothing to pax when boarding. The captain then announced that the two pax in the terminal being dealt with by the police would not be travelling. We pushed back and departed just after 1600.
Ultimately this cannot have been a pleasant experience for the gate staff, but I must praise them, and the wider GLA team for their fast response times and co-ordination skills. Aside from this incident it was another good experience from GLA overall, however, work needs to be done to improve the experience in the gate 7 area, after all there is a sign in that part of the airport with the old Flybe logo and the Wizz logo on it.

Dreadful for the staff and other passengers
That part of the terminal needs a refresh!

Frankly all parts of the terminal need a refresh, but management couldn't give a hoot. To them it's like a bus station. Even much smaller airports look much better and yet GLA is stuck in the 90s with the odd patch of modern infrastructure.

I have to say the very worst airport I have used is EMA. It used to be a lovely, friendly place with a good choice of restaurants and shops. Now it’s a veritable dump, tired, used and aMAG cash cow!

There’s a lot worse than EMA … I was in TKU some months ago, shite-hole. PIK isn’t nice either as is ORY… It’s probably a long list & Im sure GlA would be in there somewhere..!!! Best airport I’ve been through recently: DLM … What a 1st impression on arrival. Superb.

I agree that PIK isn’t great. EDI & MCO are two that IMO aren’t particularly nice.Paris wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 7:17 pmThere’s a lot worse than EMA … I was in TKU some months ago, shite-hole. I have to say as well that LIS from a departure experience in T2 isn’t pleasant either and the security staff just like being awkward.
VIE and PRG are both good I think for arrivals and departures.
