I don't think it's odd that they might want to serve both BFS and BHD, as there's clearly a market for both - and this could see flights pretty close to each other at peak times...but 3x weekly seems weird and I'm not sure how that's going to compete with EI and BE offering daily (or multi daily flights).
Unless they up the frequency significantly (which would perhaps require more based aircraft at GLA?) then imo it starts to look like a bit of a spoiler to undermine BE or otherwise to put the wind up BFS for dealing in FR.
Notably they've also announced a bunch of new routes at LIS, including I think BHX, but sadly no sign of GLA.
