Or about to move lock, stock and barrel to EDI. They've applied for daily YYZ and YYC from there for next summer.
This absolutely infuriates me. Why can GLA not hold on to business. Instead, WS rather go to Edinburgh and compete against daily AC 787 flights coupled with all the other trans atlantic routes from EDI. Is there genuinely that much business from EdI or are airlines just behaving like sheep?
I suspect this behaviour is driven by the instinct to 'hang on the coat tails' of the airlines / destinations with the highest profiles, best marketed airline(s)/airport(s) (Visit Scotland?!) and then 'word of mouth' follows but is still significant - I don't profess to know the inner workings of search engines but the more clicks drives profiles up the pecking order
I have a G61 postcode. If I search for flights on Google Flights, it automatically defaults to Edinburgh. It has been like this since before the pandemic. Dependent on traffic and time of day, I can be at Glasgow airport in the same time or less than it would take me to get down Maryhill Road to the M8 at Cowcaddens.

Also, I suspect now that GLA is to EDI what LGW is to LHR.

That's interesting, we're always told that airport charges at GLA are not the issue.

With respect to joint LGW/EDI deals, iirc I think I remember reading that these kind of deals - tying flying from one airport to get a deal at another one owned by the same company - might be prohibited by some CAA rules......although there are probably ways around it!

Indeed because it wouldn’t stand one second’s scrutiny for those who still think GLA and LHR are owned by the same company.

GLA should be pushing to get Aer Lingus UK in with an A321 Neo operating a JFK flight to start with, similar to what they have out of Manchester.

Looks like WestJet is a goner. GLA-YYZ no longer on sale for S23 according to SeanM1997 on Twitter
