Its 1 LD3 less. Also 380 is not as weight limited on GLA-DXB so type of cargo can change things dramatically. 200 boxes of frozen food is about 10 times the weight of the same 200 boxes of stuffed toys. This nugget has to put to rest for good.
Anyway even with 2 x 777 daily there was a lot cargo sent south. The real issue is the lack of equipment to handle main deck cargo (aka aversion to cargo flights by AGS) which would allow EK to take everything.

That’s crazy no wonder PIK and EDI has all the freighters traffic.

For those old enough to remember GLA had the equipment in the 1980s, There was a deal in place with Singapore Cargo for them to run a 2 times a week (to start) service thru GLA starting in 1988 IIRC. Then the equipment got sold to PIK and guess where SQC went.................

To keep the thread accurate and not full of BS, in the 1980's GLA didnt sell its equipment to PIK it was transferred to two new handling companies, airway handling and I think the other was called GH (gatwick handling) handling. At the time the law changed which resulted in airports with more than 2m paxs per year were not allowed to have their own handling companies so the BAA hand to close down its "Apron services Dep" and transfer what it could to these companies which included keeping main deck loaders. Since then Swissport and Menzies have ended up being our two handling companies and if cargo main deck operations were to commence the airport and the handling companies have an agreed way forward in this eventuality.
I worked in KLM in 70s 80s and we had a freighter every night along with SAS and Swissair.
SAS sometimes had A DC8 from New York That came in, BEA also had a Vanguard freighter,
Aer Lingus operated a 737 2/3 pallet combi.
There were also many charters including odd wide body.
Glasgow use to be a major airfreight hub, looks like all this is lost.

Question how do they load the EK 777 or the 380.
There are a number of hi-loaders on site, with both handlers, which can do underfloor containers on widebodies, and can also reach 737 main deck level. Two are required for Emirates to get freight and baggage off and on during their shortish turnaround. These are also used for Tui 787s and Transat A330s, sadly all our other widebodies are long gone.
