I was surprised to see this on flight radar. So I asked the question on the Edinburgh Forum if it was a new service, I was told it was just a 1 off.

Very surprised they did not use Glasgow.

They do it often from GLA. In this case Hays must have wanted to arrange a holiday for their Edinburgh clients.
It’s wasn’t solely Edinburgh clients. Hays had travel managers in attendance from a couple of agencies, one in South Lanarkshire. Customers were from quite a few different hometowns.

As is always the case with all flights. There’s nothing much to read into this was the gist of my point.

FRA reduces by 84 flights equals one daily departure for a twelve week period; high summer reduction?

MUC reduction 125 flights over a twenty six week season. I don’t know how frequent EDI-MUC is; at present I see it twice weekly.

Am I naive in thinking that this will erode Emirates Glasgow margin?

Yes. It will erode Qatar’s margin unless all their flights are full.

Growth does happen when there are excess seats but if you are correct then the extra capacity may impact the likes of BA, KL, TK, LH and AF at EDI who QR are competing with for destinations that they have in common.

GLA also has some of them plus the EK A380 for folks heading far east and south but I wouldn’t worry about loads on it in respect of the QR service at EDI. I’m sure your just thinking of our EK service versus their QR service but it’s a lot more than that.

Only interested in GLA. An extra 300 ( guess) seats a day x 7 is 2100 per week or 8400 per month. 100,000 per annum.
if full.

Crucial that it doesnt impact Emirates.
