Surely they’re just going to trash their own yields by putting on a 767 purely to take on Play.
Had a quick look at a random return in June. Icelandair wanted an eye watering £540 return and Play a rather steep basic-fare ticket was £260.
Looks like demand is high, perhaps moreso for the onward North American ops which enables both airlines to protect yields when folks only want to go to/from Iceland.

Which only serves to show the US carriers are behaving like sheep all consolidating at EDI.
Hopefully a clear sign that the likes of JetBlue should be able to thrive here.

Jeez, my GLA-KEF-YYZ booking was only £560ish, both the GLA flights are filling nicely though.
Icelandair's B767-319ER TF-ISO parked on stand 33 after diverting in on FI543 CDG-KEF. This was once very much a GLA resident/regular, as Globespan's G-CDPT from 2006 until closure, although it did spend several spells out on lease.

I also looked at Icelandair from Glasgow. The cheapest way to get to Iceland is to fly to Frankfurt then lie over for 11 hours and go from Frankfurt to Kef - for just over £250 when I checked. I have looked at flights from PLAY and they seem much more in line with that, so lets hope Iceair gets their prices down
