So his "plans in place in 2 years" is a commercial message to basically say to both existing and new entrant airlines 'forget the other airports'Paris wrote: ↑Tue May 09, 2023 12:12 pmLucky or not..!!! He’s at least putting his business out there & working on it … Silence the only policy this side of the country. If as EDI are obviously working on it & it does come to fruition in a year, two years or ten? What a coup and what a way to mop up.billyg6 wrote: ↑Mon May 08, 2023 11:57 pmIt's still years away , if it happens at all. Other airports , both in Scotland and the Northern half of England, will have something to say about it , and delaying tactics will be inevitable. Dewar says he expects the "plans in place in 2 years" , he'll be lucky imo !

Re: USA Pre Clearance
Re: Edinburgh
Imagine if airports had customs pre-clearance facilities for India, Nepal, Portugal, Tanzania, etc - wonder what makes the USA so special (or in fact difficult) that it needs to have border guards at the other end of flights?

He has the space if he decided to convert international 1 for all USA flights, and keep the new international 2 for all others

Re: Edinburgh
The US CBP website has a section on the proposed expansion of pre-clearance. One section in particular is noteworthy:
“Airport partners must be willing to share costs related to operating and administrative expenses and provide facilities and equipment that meet CBP technical design standards.”
Basically it’s a way of getting other countries/airports to pay for US CBP.

Stands 4,14,15,16 and18all suitable for a 787. Plus remote stands available at 103/106 or the new 300 stands.
I suspect the Mon /Fri rotations use stands complimenting VS Wed/Sat plus WS Mon/Thu/Sat.
More pertinent is how all these pax fit into check in and security as well as gate space.
