Air Canada/Air Transat

Post by baystate »

Apologies if this has already been posted. Not really sure if this qualifies as good news or not. If the deal falls through and Transat go under, its bad. If the deal falls through and Transat continue more or less as-is I think its good.

Gonna be some bad news anyway, as AC have announced the retirement of the 767 and it looks like Rouge will focus on shorthaul. Whether GLA becomes a mainline AC 737Max destination who knows. If the deal goes through however, things should carry on under the Air Transat banner

Time will tell Kirky.

The history ofCanadian airlines shows, that like France with Air France, Air Canada will survive and others won’t. My personal opinion of Westjet is that, like Wardair and Canada 3000 before them, they have over expanded in a contracting market. This summer looks less and less likely with each passing day; more so given 14 day quarantine, FCO travel restrictions and limited services being slowly drip fed into the system.

Happy days, not.

Have Air Transat converted those A310's into overpriced keyrings yet ? Might be worth hanging on a bit longer...

Some compensation payment due to Air Transat, in the region of $CAD 12.5 million (£7.5 million), small change really. It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming months, or sooner ? Air Transat have loan funding to survive only until June 30th.

My daughter got an e-mail from Air Transat at the weekend now offering a refund in lieu of the credit for future travel she had from last July

Refunds were a condition of the bailout deal.
