With the lack of aviation, and travel restrictions, I spent a Thursday afternoon in the City to see what was going on around the Clydeside and City Centre. What surprised me, and is evident in the night shots (taken just before 5pm) is just how quiet the place is. Indeed, my train home, the 1715 to Balloch there were only 3 other passengers in my coach on leaving Queen Street
Anyway, starting on the North side of the river, much building work is going on between Broomielaw and St. Enoch's Square, adjacent to the Euro Hostel and behind the Custom House.

Looking up river from the Glasgow Bridge, the Clyde is all peaceful.

A quick walk under the railway bridge to the King George V Bridge, and a look at the massive development on the South side, anchored by Barclays Bank's new block, which is the most advanced of the construction so far.

Back across the River, with darkness descending, and a view up a deserted Buchanan Street from Argyle Street, at 4.30pm on a weekday.

A little further along, and a couple of views of the Gallery of Modern Art and Royal Exchange Square, from Queen Street.

Home Town Tourist
Re: Home Town Tourist
Nice shots Fergus. I see these new construction sites daily on my commute into Central and the Barclays development is huge. At one point recently I could count 15 cranes working from the West End to the city centre, a sure sign of some huge investment and confidence in the city and it's workforce.
Since the streets are so quiet, it would be an ideal time to catch all the spray paint happy little bastards that think it's great to leave their 'tags' all over everyone's property. This is becoming a huge eyesore. They even manage to tag the trains ffs.

Yeahhh. Flying Colours. Loved Braniff, USA Court Line or were they Britain’s Braniff?
I liked the ultra scheme though- even persuaded my parents to decorate my bedroom in the sparkling burgundy look.
