Yes I know they don’t fly from GLA but why not?
Like Icelandair, the natural airport would be GLA, not EDI. I don’t know they had a code share with KL until boarding this flight a couple of days ago. Plenty transfers in both directions from RC to KL and vice Vera’s and as luck would have it (Murphy’s Law) Faroes flight arrived 20 minutes late and AMS ten minutes early. EDI doesn’t have an international flight connections zone but I understand GLA has.
A missed trick?

Re: Atlantic Airways
First operated by Icelandair in the early 1970's with Friendships, as a through service from Reykjavik, it resumed in 1987, again with F27 equipment, but this time a through service from/to Egilsstadir, switching to the new Fokker 50s in 1992 and operating until the end of the summer 1997 season. Atlantic only visited GLA on charters, and occasional fuel stops, with their BAe146 fleet, Aberdeen being their chosen Scottish destination.
Re: Atlantic Airways
I think they operated a couple of times a week on a 146 at one point - I'm sure have a memory of flying from GLA some time in the late 90s and seeing a flight to FAE from the next gate
I don't see any reason why they would switch, but I've often thought that it might be s possible route for LM - pretty high fares mean it would possibly a niche from GLA and a E145 has a lot less seats to fill than an Airbus.
As for missed tricks, there are so many of those I think we could write 100 posts about them!

Does it - How does it operate? I've always presumed it doesn't and that would therefore be a barrier to persuading airlines to do services like SQs SIN-MAN--IAH or EKs DXB-US flights that stop and pick up pax in Europe - the reason being I believe the pax have to get off during the stop and obviously if you have to go through passport control at GLA and enter the UK etc that's probably too difficult.

Re: Atlantic Airways
It used to have for the multi stop Canada flights. Passengers would get off and then head down towards immigration before going back upstairs via a staircase just after Gate 27.Iain wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 9:27 am I think they operated a couple of times a week on a 146 at one point - I'm sure have a memory of flying from GLA some time in the late 90s and seeing a flight to FAE from the next gate

With the redesign of the terminal that passengers can now access any gate and not specific international and domestic gates I don’t think this is in place any more.
Similar issues exist at LHR for international to international. If a BA passenger arrives at T5B or C and their departing flight is going from there they can connect within, however if it’s from T5A or they arrive at T5A they need to clear the UK border.
