There is a Notam out indicating RFFS Cat9 on Monday 3 August and Tuesday 4 August between 17:30 and 19:15 instead of the present norm. of Cat7.
As Cat9 is usual for the Emirates when they operate, suggests wide body movements.

What does all this mean to the ordinary bloke. Notam, RFFS, Cat 9, Cat 7 ..... ffs ?
NOTAM = Notice to Airmen (maybe it should be NOTAP now)
RFFS = Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (the CAT refers to number of appliances, firecrew etc required based on the size of an aircraft)
I was contacted yesterday by an old friend from down south who reckons that the Antonov AN225 is due into Prestwick Airport on Sunday at 2pm. Has anyone else heard about this?

Yeah it was mentioned the other day on here, with times quoted as being 1430-1630 BST arr/dep. But Antonov now themselves advising 1330-1700 UTC meaning 1430-1800 as BST, inbound from Bangor. Incidentally the 225 left Kiev this morning, heading west and ought to pass overhead at some point soon (1030BST as I type).
Thanks for the information and the link to that great video. At the rate things are going it looks like Prestwick will be the place to go to for Interesting Movements in 2020!!

But quite possibly NOT the place to go for social distancing this Sunday ? I wonder if the local constabulary will try and put the kaibosh on people gathering at the mound for instance ?
Well the friend who contacted me is intending to drive up from Bolton to see the Antonov, so if that's how far people are willing to trave to see it, then yes, crowds could well be a problem on the day.

Your friend absolutely cannot drive up from Bolton to Scotland this weekend. Lockdown measures there are in force and the Scottish Government are right now announcing no non essential travel to or from the lockdown areas around Greater Manchester and parts of West Yorkshire. Fuller details online but Bolton is very much in the epicentre.
Please contact him or her right now and tell them not to come.

Was going to post the same Clive, but glad you beat me to it as I already sound like a total killjoy on this. But yeah Manchester, Lancashire, West Yorkshire etc folks, need to stay put for now. No doubt we'll get our turn too at some stage. Of course it also begs the wider question if airports in those zones will see any restrictions on movements posed ?
