Not one of the names that had been touted.
They have stakes is a few airports, but the only one they appear to have a majority stake in is ATH, which seems to be doing all right. On the other hand German airports are I understand known for high costs and HAM (where they have a stake) is iirc facing significant FR cuts.
I'm not particularly enthused tbh, but they deserve a chance to show what they can do. If they're dropping £1.5bn they must be aware of the market they're entering and believe they can compete effectively to move GLA (and ABZ and SOU) forward.
As Clive mentions, it will be interesting to see what changes take place in management positions. Hopefully everything can be tied up quickly.

3 x airports for £1.5bn. Not a huge sum in the grander scheme of things. Higher management, route planning and PR teams, as direct staff will presumably be tuped over. Meaning they will remain in place for a time. It remains to be seen if they are retained in the longer term. Given recent events at Glasgow and the failure of the current management to secure significant new routes, it’s hard to see how they can possibly be retained.

The owner of Glasgow Airport has been sold for £1.53 billion with more flight routes promised in the future.
AGS Airports, which operates Glasgow, Aberdeen and Southampton Airports, has been acquired by German company AviAlliance.
The airport management platform already has a portfolio of four airports which together served 73 million passengers in 2023, up 20 per cent from 2022.
It promises to 'responsibly develop' AGS Airports and improve its air connectivity, 'expand route networks' and enhance passenger experiences.
AviAlliance is the wholly-owned airport platform of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), one of Canada’s largest pension investors.
Gerhard Schroeder, managing director of AviAlliance, said: “Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports provide vital connectivity for communities in Scotland and the South East of England.
"As a seasoned airport investor and manager with in-depth industry expertise, AviAlliance will enable each airport to realise their full potential.
"We are committed to supporting the airports over the long term to expand their route networks, further improve the passenger experience and implement the airports’ sustainability strategy."
Sandiren Curthan, managing director and global head of infrastructure investments at PSP Investments, added: “PSP Investments is a significant investor across several sectors in Scotland and more broadly, the United Kingdom, with over £10bn of investments in the United Kingdom.
"Our PSP Infrastructure strategy consists of investing in sectors where PSP Investments has strong expertise and a track record of delivering value for our beneficiaries. Airports is a sector which fits that strategy given AviAlliance’s deep operational expertise.

Given our new German ownership, hopefully they’ll be looking at reinstating DUS and MUC as well as enhancing and expanding to other areas of Germany - especially after the Tartan Army represented us so well over there last year.
