Clive

I’m not going to make this political but consider this.

The money given to PIK could have helped many other business build on their successes, not failure.

PIK has never delivered. All we have seen is a constant reduction in passenger services and these “loans” are in effect a subsidy to an Irish carrier competing against British registered carriers operating from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

If there is transparency over monies allocated, outstanding loan repayments then it’s clear for all to see how much a drain PIK has become on public finances. Politicians should always remember that it is PUBLIC money they spend, not their own. If the latter I seriously wonder exactly how much their largesse would stretch.

Finally regarding transparency. Why all the secrecy regards the failed bid? Why is the statement released on Twitter by the usually invisible Transport Minister?

I ask these questions not to try and score any political points but as a hard pressed Scottish taxpayer.

Time will tell. I hope that there is no huge monetary carrots being dangled to bring this to fruition.

Meanwhile the cynic in me says aye the band played on!

Further FR reductions for W20:-

ALC - 2 pw (was 3 pw)
ACE - suspended W20
TFS - weekly (was 2 pw)

Now only 6 flights per week operating for W20.

The US Navy has detached 4 P-8A Poseidon to PIK.

No idea how long they are staying but it's not for the usual maritime patrol exercise.
